BACK:  Drop the Needle:

Ahh that sound of the crackle, skips and pops when the needle drops

• John Lennon once asked George Martin how long can one side of a 45 play in 1968, after some experimenting, found the answer - 7 minutes, 11 seconds.

Thus the playing time of "Hey Jude".

• The 45 Era lasted 40 wonderful years:
• They were cheap, less than a dollar each, and also featured a B-side!
• By the beginning of the 80’s, sales of 45s were beginning to gradually slip as the "mixtape" era began. By 1990 record companies began discontinuing the 45, as the cassette tape, CD and MP3 players took over the market.
• Today Vinyl is much sought after by all generations ...
